When ICOMP is complete you can safely delete the DUNE2000.DAT and the ICOMP.EXE file from your c:\dunetemp\setup directory.ICOMP will take the fixed DUNE2000.DAT file and replace the one that's in the SETUP.Z file. At the Dos prompt type in the following command ->Ĭ:\dunetemp\SETUP>icomp dune2000.dat setup.z dune -I.Open a DOS box and switch to the c:\dunetemp\setup directory.Copy the fixed DUNE2000.DAT file that you made earlier to the \dunetemp\Setup Directory.Unzip and copy the ICOMP.EXE file to the \dunetemp\Setup directory.Go the \dunetemp\Setup directory and remove the read-only attribute for the SETUP.Z file.Go into the temporary directory and delete all the FILES from the c:\dunetemp\Internet\erthlink directories and subdirectories but NOT the directory folders themselves.Using Windows Explorer, create a temporary folder on your hard-drive and copy the entire contents of your Original DUNE2000 CD to the temporary folder that you created (example c:\dunetemp).Copy the DUNE2000.DAT to a safe place and set it aside.(now you can play without the original CD)
How to make a copyable Dune 2000 CD that is fully functional.well except for Earthlink.
When this happens use the original EXE to play online, else you could find yourself banned from the game! Some No-CD/Fixed EXE files work fine in Single Player mode but are detected to be modified when trying to play online.
Always make a backup of the files that are overwritten by the File Archive, as the original files are usually required to update the game to a newer version or to play Online!.
